In a world where there are rigid definitions of acceptable body types, this story is about Mohit, an eight-year-old body positive activist. This story was inspired after countless conversations with peers who have been body-shamed for not being of the ‘right’ dimensions. We heard stories of loneliness, of having been bullied,of having low self-esteem and drastic measures some of us take to look ‘right’.
This widespread occurrence–the need to look a certain way, manifested and reinforced daily through innumerable media images. Another observation was that while there were a lot of body positive activists speaking for women, there were noticeably fewer ones for men. All together we need more conversation with children about the language of pressure that we use in speaking of size and traditions notions of success. This discordance influenced us to create Mohit, a plump kid, constantly bullied for his weight. The story achingly articulates the despair that he goes through and then takes a magical spin when a suave rabbit comes in to save the day.
